safety vinyl or contract vinyl?
Safety vinyls tend to have a sustainable slip resistance; the slip resistance is effective throughout the product so as it wears over time, the slip resistance remains in the product. ‘Regular’ contract/commercial vinyl is usually of a similar specification but tends to be a slightly cheaper product with the difference being they have a wear layer which sits on top of the product. This wear layer, usually 0.5mm – 0.7mm, will wear down over time, so the slip rating is not sustainable.
Please note, we do not sell domestic grade felt backed/cushioned vinyl.

R10 is the most common type of slip rating in contract & safety vinyls. R11 & R12 boast a higher slip rating for areas such as wet rooms & commercial kitchens where grease & oils are more prevalent. We tend to see R9 vinyls only in homogeneous products usually found in (bit not limited to) healthcare i.e hospitals, etc.
